Bruce Duncan and Geoff Tooley were starting a new business and approached me to help them promote themselves. My task was to create a corporate identity and website for potential clients to use to see what they were about and contact them.

With the logo I when through various stages of research and development before we reached a final outcome which explained who they were with style and class.

I then tried to replicate this theme onto the website making it clear and simple to navigate around the site as well as it looking professional and modern.

Another requirement for the site was the music player that showcased there musical talents. This was created in Flash and plays several of their signature songs in a playlist.

This freelence job started when I was approached by the secretary of the club asking if I could revamp their existing website. My brief was to give it a consistent theme and one that was in keeping with the colours and passions of the club.

Being a popular site that was frequently visited by a variety of users, it was also important to make it as accessible as possible. As well as that I also has to make the site easy to update as the secretary would be making regular changes to the content and he knew very little about web design.

The design is original and created completely by my self; it was coded using mainly HTML and CSS with some small elements of flash. It meets the standards set by the W3C and also has additional accessibility features to help on standard users.

During my placement at Metia I worked as a Web Developer where I had the opportunity to work on many exciting projects for many large companies. A lot of my work was for the software giant, regularly maintaining some of the Microsoft websites. As you may know the site is huge, with it split into different locations and divisions of the company. One of the sites I worked on regularly was the Careers site for Europe and Middle East Asia. This involved updating the site with new jobs and information as well as adding media such as video and sound.

The site is coded in HTML and XML however it also uses CMS and is converted into MSPX pages once approved by Microsoft.

Another feature of the site is the Silverlight element. Silverlight is a new rich media technology developed by Microsoft and the careers site was one of the first to use it. I helped deploy the first instance of it on the web which replaced the flash version there.

Along with the Careers site I also worked on the Press Centre, some pages for Microsoft UK, the EMEA homepage, a site in the Asia directory, ISV innovations website and many others. As well as websites I also developed internal emails and DVD's.
